The newest version of PSP firmware, v2.80, was released today.
Available via the Network Update option within the existing PSP software, the firmware upgrade is expected to be available from the official Sony Update page via download soon.
New functionality includes RSS video feed support, AAC file with *.3gp extension support, register devices via wireless LAN access point and the ability play content saved under the "MUSIC", "PICTURE" and "VIDEO" folders on a memory stick.

If you upgrade to 2.8 there is currently no way to roll back to 2.5.
Currently there is no legal way to roll back from any version, but if you have 2.6 you can revert right the way back to 1.5.

Dude, there is no 2.80 downgrader at all. There won't be one for a long time. I don't think anyone can concept an idea on a downgrader. I've been working the original upgrade eboots to TRY to make a downgrader, failing miserably, and I just dont want to brick the PSP if I fail. Just be patient, it wil come soon. I say, late 2007 :D
