Sony has released a new update to the PSP's firmware.  PSP users who have been keeping abreast of previous firmware revisions may have noticed that 3.2 and any subsequent minor revisions have been skipped suggesting a more significant update.

The confirmed changelog for firmware 3.3 so far shows a rare update involving the ubiquitous UMD with a disc load speed option, either Fast or Normal.

Specific changes include thumbnail support for both RSS channels and for movie files placed under the VIDEO folder, a "Use Wireless Hotspot" option under Network Settings and support for MPEG-4/H.264 AVC Main Profile (AVC CABAC) for sizes 720x480, 352x480, and 480x272.

The Wireless HotSpot option has been launched alongside a promotion with provider T-Mobile giving users who upgrade to the 3.3 firmware six months free usage and a special discounted rate thereafter.

i do wish that someone would develop a devhook that emulates 1.50. It would run on HEN but that means that HEN needs to always have the same " core " files for it to work on every PSP
