Today, finally, consumers in Europe got to get their hands on the Playstation Portable, or, under its more popular moniker, the PSP.

With 5 million PSP units already sold in the wake of the US and Japanese launches, the European release "Value Pack" includes the PSP itself along with carry pouch, wrist strap, headphones, power adaptor, battery pack and even a remote control.  Default memory considerations for the PSP are taken care of with a 32MB Memory Stick Duo and the PSP will be useable out of the box with its UMD demo disc containing all 3 media types, video, game and music.

When the demo disc gets tired and if you invest early enough, register your PSP with Sony via YourPSP.com and receive a free copy of Spiderman 2 on UMD Video.

Plenty of UMD media will be available to the European PSP market from the off, with Dodgeball and I Robot titles being notable in the video release list, along with a selection of over 30 titles from the PSP's everexpanding game title library.
